RegulatoPateros marked a significant milestone in its local healthcare system with the opening of the Botika ng Pateros in November 2025, coinciding with the blessing and inauguration of the newly built Masikap Health Center. The launch forms part of the municipality’s broader effort to strengthen access to essential medicines for residents of Masikap Health Center and its surrounding barangays, Sta. Ana and San Roque.ry

“Establishing the Botika within the Masikap Health Center allows us to deliver medicines where they are needed most—closer to the people,” a local official noted during the opening event. The initiative aims to remove barriers to treatment, particularly for patients requiring routine maintenance medications.
Early operations highlight several community benefits. Patients now have more convenient access to their prescribed maintenance drugs due to the facility’s proximity to residential areas. With medicines available locally, a larger number of residents are obtaining the free medications they need, improving continuity of care. Local health workers have also reported better treatment adherence, as the reduced travel burden encourages patients to follow through with their prescriptions.
However, the Botika’s initial months have also surfaced operational challenges. Frequent pullouts of medicines—intended to augment supply in other municipal health centers—have reduced stock levels at Masikap. As a result, key maintenance medications such as Atorvastatin, Metformin, and Telmisartan are often unavailable. Staff also observe that some patients still follow old routines, arriving without required prescriptions or maintenance booklets, leading to delays in dispensing.
Despite these hurdles, the municipality remains committed to strengthening its pharmacy services. Efforts are underway to stabilize inventory levels and expand access to free medicines across more areas of Pateros. The local government affirms that Botika ng Pateros will continue operations and play a growing role in supporting residents’ health and treatment compliance.
The opening of the Botika marks a significant advancement in bringing essential health services closer to the community—an important step toward a more accessible and responsive municipal health system.
